Volunteer With Us!

Volunteers are what make our shared community possible. Since our launch in January 2021, there have been 50,000+ messages exchanged between our one-to-one volunteers and help-seekers across Canada. These numbers continue to grow, and we are consistently near or at capacity!

Mobile, Backend, and Full Stack Developers (~ 4-8 hours / week)

At its heart, The Colour Project is made up of two main technical components: the React Native app used by our peer volunteers, and a Rails API server. As we are a small organization, there are many other small technical ops that need to be creatively managed as well: third-party integrations (Twilio, Squarespace, Zapier), email, passwords, metrics/dashboards, and more.

As we are just coming out of the Beta period, our Rails server & Mobile application are still very much in MVP-form. As well, our internal processes for different kinds of technical work can be improved. As part of the tech team, there is a lot of opportunity for you to help make a huge difference for either our volunteer app experience, the Admin & API experience, or both (please see links below for 1-page role descriptions). We envision continuing to maintain a team of 3-5 long-term tech leads who can collaborate and work together with us to cover the areas needed to maintain and improve the The Colour Project. Hours/week are estimated and will depend on experience level.

Mobile Developer (React Native)

Backend Developer (Ruby on Rails & PostgreSQL)

Full Stack Developer (Ruby on Rails & React Native)

If you are interested, please email Ian and Amanda at hello@thecolourproject.ca with a copy of your resume and/or link to your LinkedIn profile - whatever you think may help give us an overall idea of your experience and/or highlights you would like to share! Thank you!
